Accepted
Dealing with acceptance and rejection is very difficult. Most of us would say that we are either up or down, happy or sad based upon whether people like us or dislike us. When we are rejected, we tend to isolate and insulate ourselves from other people. When we are accepted, we fall into the pack and build community. I think that is why Jesus brought every one of us the love and hope we needed. Jesus gave his life so that you and I would never have to feel rejected again. He recognized the pain of being rejected. He lived it. Most of our being accepted or rejected has to do with how well we perform. If I do well and say the right things, people accept me. If I don’t, well, rejection happens. One of the deepest longings of the human heart is to be accepted. We chase it through relationships, success, and approval, but the truest and most secure acceptance is already found in God.
Remember that the Bible reminds us:
- “Christ accepted you” (Romans 15:7).
- We are “accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).
- Jesus said, “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (John 6:37).
God’s acceptance isn’t based on how perfectly we perform, but on His love and grace through Christ. He created us with intention (Psalm 139:13–14) and promises that nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38–39).
So today, rest in this truth: you don’t have to earn His acceptance; you already have it. And when you know you’re fully accepted by God, you can live with freedom, peace, and the confidence to love others the same way.
