Lessons from a Year God is Still Using (2025)
“Lessons From a Year God Is Still Using”
Every year teaches us something, but some years shape us. This past year has been one of those shaping seasons- a slow and steady work of God beneath the surface. My keyword or theme for 2025 was "established". As I reflect upon this year, so many things have been established by the presence and power of God. Maybe you’ve felt the same. Maybe your life has held moments of joy, moments of stretching, and moments where you wondered what God was doing. If so, take heart. You’re not alone, and God has been far more present than you realize. Here are some of the simple truths I have learned that may also resonate with you.
1. God Establishes What We Surrender
There’s a beautiful truth tucked inside the moments we release control: God strengthens what we hand over to Him. When we let go of outcomes, He secures the path beneath our feet.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3
Take a deep breath today and place your plans back in His hands. He knows what to do with them.
2. You Are Stronger Than You Think
Life can feel heavy. Loss, transition, uncertainty- they can drain us. But every time we face something that should have broken us, God proves that His strength is alive in us.
If you’re standing today, even with a tired heart, you’re stronger than you know.
3. Faithfulness in Small Things Matters
Not every day feels remarkable. Some days are simple, quiet, even ordinary. Yet those are often the days where God does His best work in a conversation, a prayer, a moment of encouragement, a step of obedience.
Keep showing up. Heaven notices.
4. Grief Doesn’t Cancel Gratitude
This year reminded me that you can feel the ache of what’s happened and still be thankful for what God is doing. Healing isn’t rushed. Restoration isn’t instant. But God walks with us through both the tears and the thanksgiving.
5. Your Calling Is Still Your Calling
Roles change. People move on. Seasons shift. But the calling God placed in you is still alive. Ministry isn’t tied to a department or a title. It’s tied to your heart. If God has used you to encourage others, that won’t stop now.
6. Rest Is Not Weakness - It’s Wisdom
Rest resets the mind and restores the soul. If Jesus took time to step away, you and I need it too. Let your rest be worship. Let your quiet moments be communion.
7. Hope Is Still Worth Holding
No matter what this year has brought, God has not abandoned His promises. Hope is not wishful thinking. It’s confidence in a God who is still writing your story.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
Cup of Joe Challenge:
Sit with God for five quiet minutes.
Tell Him what you’re carrying.
Then whisper this simple prayer:
“Lord, establish me. Strengthen me. Lead me. I trust You with my whole heart.”
