Mothers Day 2025
Over the past few days, I’ve come across various things that have touched my heart. Special Mother’s Day poems, merchandise, and a plethora of Momisms have filled my mind. Momisms are those unique phrases that only mothers can utter. Some of my favorites include “you’re going to put your eye out with that thing!” and “look at me when I’m talking to you!” And let’s not forget the infamous one we’ve all heard: “you’ll understand that better when you have kids of your own.” The latter holds a special place in my heart as a father of three. I often reminisce about the wonderful words of wisdom that my mother shared with me. I wish I had written them down; I’m certain she remembers every single one of them!
Mothers have learned to endure pain for the joy of something greater. Even though I was only 6 pounds 15 ounces of incredible joy, my mother probably had to suppress a few tears a few times. But mothers always possess compassion and believe the best of their children, even when they fall short. They nurture, guide, comfort, and encourage their children.
My mother’s favorite scripture is found in 3 John 4, where it says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” I spent a lot of time searching for something, and thanks to my mother, I finally found the truth. Mothers want their children to walk in truth because it’s the truth they know that will set them free. And freedom is something that every child always seems to desire!
This weekend, take a moment to remember some of the Momisms you’ve heard. Give her a call. If she’s temporarily away to be with the Lord until you see her again, offer up a prayer of gratitude for all she’s done for you. I guarantee she’s listening. Celebrate her life because she’s the one who brought yours into existence!
To my mother, thank you for always pushing me forward and helping me up every time I fell. And thanks for teaching me how to use a spoon. I have fed myself well all these years. I do have another special request. Could you teach me to put it down now? 😂
I pray that you have an incredible Mother’s Day weekend!
