Stop the Excuse and Put it To Use
"Then the LORD
said to Moses, "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son
of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and
knowledge in all kinds of crafts- to make artistic designs for work in
gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to
engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. Moreover, I have appointed
Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given
skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you: the
Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony with the atonement cover on it, and
all the other furnishings of the tent- the table and its articles, the
pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, the
altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its stand- and
also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the
garments for his sons when they serve as priests, and the anointing oil
and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I
commanded you."
In Exodus 31 the Lord
describes how the temple was going to come together. What I see when I read
this is the precise detail and organization that the Lord put into place to
accomplish the tasks that were important to Him. Look at Bezalel. He was filled
with the Spirit of God, filled with skill, ability and knowledge. He was given
the ability for "superior craftsmanship". Often we think of our
skills as being learned through experience. In other words as you do the job
for a period of time you become skilled to complete the project. Yet in this
word we can see that it is God who
gives people natural ability for certain tasks. We are all created
with unique skills to do specific tasks that will make God smile. He will even provide help from others! Some are
artistic, like Bezalel, others are more analytical and still others are enabled
with great strength to handle most of the heavy lifting. The lesson is that we
all need to use what God has put in
us to do what God has designed us to do.
What has He designed
you to do? Are you doing it? If not, what is keeping you from it? You
have been filled with the spirit of God and given skill, ability, and
knowledge. Designed by God. Stop the excuse and put it to use!
