I Thank My God
“I thank my God every time I
remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because
of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident
of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phil 1:4-6
Yes, it’s been one of those weeks. The kind where
you are kind of busy and then there’s a gap…a vacant hole where your mind
wanders and wonders about where you are and what you are doing. You start
thinking about people: the people that have crossed your path and shared their
stories with you. It may have only been for a short time but they left a mark
and the memory is seared into your soul. I think that’s what Paul was
experiencing in this verse. Thanking God for the times, the seasons and the
people that come in and out of our lives. A partnership in the things of
God-working together to make this planet and all that is part of it a better
place.
As this day marks the beginning of another
presidential season, we would all do well to remember that we either contribute
or take away from our countries future. We may let our opinions be known but
the fact of the matter is that the God who created all that we enjoy will walk
with us through all that we experience and help us through all that we endure. Today is a great day to be part
of a solution…a future with a hope. We are part of the answers and the
successes of where we will end up. Our words and our actions help shape our
destiny. So rather than boycott our nations process and criticize what’s wrong,
how about starting to applaud what’s right and thanking God for partnership-our
part with Him and how He wants to helps us live life to its fullest. Be a
positive person, spread encouragement to others and know this: He who began a
good work in all of us will be faithful to complete it. That promise is for all
of us and we know His grace is more than sufficient for any and all of our
inadequacies. Be confident. Pray for those that are in positions of power that
they may lead us the way that the Lord desires. After all, that is the best way
you could go…the way you were created to go! Celebrate this day and God Bless
the United States of America.
