Anticipation
Well
we are into the middle of this first week of 2017 and I've got to tell you, I’ve not felt a year
yet when there was such “anticipation” in my spirit. So much so that I decided
to look closer at the meaning of the word and here is what I discovered:
Anticipation:
the action of anticipating something; expectation or prediction. You may
remember the song that played along with a popular ketchup bottle that was
being poured out while the singer sang that word…anticipation; it’s making me
wait!
Expectation
is a huge part of this emotion. So I am asking myself, what am I expecting? Why
this anticipation? It seems that this year I have an overwhelming sense that
God is about to do something supernatural and incredible in me, through me and
for me. I smile as I type out those words. It’s strong and it’s consistent. And
I like the feeling.
I
am expecting to be “surprised” by His divine blessings-His intervention at any moment! In fact, in
many of the birthday wishes and blessings I received Monday, people used the
word surprises to describe what they hoped for my year. That makes me smile
too. I must say, it feels much better to be expecting these things over being
worried about what bad things could occur.
Musicians
use this word to describe the introduction in a composition of part of a chord
that is about to follow in full. At first there may be some dissonance but the
suspending of the tone(s) is soon resolved. You listen for it, it resolves. You
expect it, it happens. You anticipate it...well, it's on the way.
What
types of things are you “anticipating” this year? Are you looking for things to
go wrong or do you find yourself thanking the Lord for things that go right?
Maybe you are off to a shaky start. Relax…Breathe…Smile. Perhaps this is the
year that we will all be surprised by the Lord’s goodness and favor. Yes, that
is what I expect to happen!
