How Will I Know?
But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what
my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my
endurance.
Paul was talking to Timothy, a young preacher, about how he
could know that what Paul was saying was the truth. In these days we are living
in, all types of crazy ideas and thoughts are being shared and not everything
is the truth. You and I must have a standard of measure to decide what is right
and what is not right. The Word of God is that blueprint.
Paul said here’s how you can tell I’m shooting straight with
you: look at my faith, my patience, my love and my endurance. Let me break that
down:
Look at …
#1 my beliefs…do my convictions steer the course of my
actions?
#2 my patience…how well do I stick with what I believe?
#3 my love…the way I show you what I believe; what do my actions say?
#4 my endurance…my ability to stand strong through adversity
to what I believe and the say I show it.
So how about your life? What do you believe and do you stick
with it? Would others know what that it is by looking at your actions? Can you
stand the test of time and endure hardship?
