I don't always watch the NBA, just when it gets to this time of the year and the best of the best are supposed to be playing. So when I tuned in to watch these championship matches, imagine my surprise watching these players doing all of this "flopping". In
basketball,
flopping is a
pejorative
term that refers to a defensive player intentionally falling backward
to the floor upon physical contact with an offensive player. The hope is
that it will appear to the
official that the defensive player was knocked off of his feet by the offensive player's contact, thus prompting the official to call a
charging foul against the offensive player.
When we were little kids, we would be dramatic and exaggerate everything something happened and make it look and sound worse than it was. I guess we did a great deal of "flopping". When I grew up, all of the flopping seemed a bit childish to me. I also stopped whining and crying about everything too:)
We've made it much to easy for people to "flop" these days and act affected by things that really never happened. Flopping dopesn't just happen in the NBA...it happens all over the USA.
Are you a "flopper"? Let's quit "acting" like we got hit or hurt and start playing like the champions we were created to be.
