The Organizer

If I told you today that I had a wonderful new wardrobe for you…a large collection of clothes for you to wear but in order to get them from me you had to toss out the ones in your closet…what do you suppose would happen? I believe that I would get a few different reactions. Most of you may say OK, bring them on. My closet will be empty later today!
Some of you would ask me what kind of clothes they were. Because style is important. Some of you would turn the offer down because it’s just sounds too good to be true. Still others would be unable to receive my gift because they would not be willing to make room for it. If we are unable to receive anything new because we are unwilling to make room, it may be because we have not organized our life: our life has organized us. It is true that if you don’t do something with life, life will do something with you.
For many years I moved from one house to another and kept taking the same boxes from place to place. Then I had a moment of clarity...I realized that I had some boxes that had never been opened and I was just taking old stuff from place to place with no intention of letting them go. It made me work harder and lose space every time. Somehow, this made me think about my relationship with the Lord and what I do with what He has given me.
What if God was unable to bring something new into my life because my life was filled up with other boxes? If I knew there was a blessing waiting for me to organize my life, the process of organization would start immediately! In fact I have a new policy, or filter for keeping things in order now: if I didn't use the stuff last year, I probably won't need it this year. It has helped me to re-organize and get rid of the clutter.
Colossians 3 tells us this...
12Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
God wants us to put on these things and put off things like anger, malice, bitterness and envy. He wants us to chase faith, not fashion. To be sanctified, not trendy.
He is the great organizer and when we take my lives, our agenda and our priorities to Him, He places them in perfect succession so that we accomplish exactly what we were to accomplish for that day.
So what boxes are in your spirit that need to be given up? Let the Organizer help you organize YOUR life and ut on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
