Anticipation

I’ve not felt a moment this year when there was such “anticipation” in my spirit. So much so that I decided to look closer at the meaning of the word and here is what I found:

Anticipation: the action of anticipating something; expectation or prediction. You may remember the song that played along with a popular ketchup bottle that was being poured out while the singer sang that word...anticipation; it’s makin’ me wait! It’s keepin’ me waitin’.

Expectation is a huge part of this emotion. So I am asking myself, what am I expecting? Why this anticipation? It seems that right now I have an overwhelming sense that God is about to do something supernatural and incredible in me, through me and for me. I smile as I type out those words. It’s strong and it’s consistent. And I like the feeling.

I am expecting to be “surprised” by divine blessings at any moment! That makes me smile too. I must say, it feels much better to be expecting these things over being worried about what bad things could occur.

Musicians use this word to describe the introduction in a composition of part of a chord that is about to follow in full. At first there may be some dissonance but the suspending of the tone(s) is soon resolved. You listen for it, it resolves. You expect it, it happens.

What types of things are you “anticipating” right now? Are you looking for things to go wrong or do you find yourself thanking the Lord for things that go right? Relax...Breathe...Smile. Perhaps this is the moment that we will all be surprised by the Lord’s goodness and favor. Yes, that is what I expect to happen!
