What is Your Life Saying?
“This letter is from Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I have been sent to proclaim faith to those God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives. This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began.” Titus 1:1-2 NLT
Proclaim faith
Teach them to know the truth
Show the how to live godly
What does a good leader do? We talk to people about faith, then we instruct them in how to walk by faith. The way we live will SHOW them how powerful this faith is. (we live as an example)
“A church leader is a manager of God’s household, so he must live a blameless life. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered; he must not be a heavy drinker, violent, or dishonest with money. Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life. He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.” Titus 1:7-9 NLT
Leaders encourage others with wholesome teaching(truth). When people who are living compromising lives are confronted by the TRUTH, the Holy Spirit can bring conviction and a desire to change behavior. We don’t show people they are wrong because we say so or think so. It’s because of what the Word says and how we should live. We talk it and we walk it.
Let's look at how this chapter ends:
“Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.” Titus 1:15-16 NLT
Many of the people you and I will come in contact with may fit in this category. Hopefully what will be said of us as leaders and godly people will be:
“They didn’t just teach us how to love-they showed us by the way they loved each other.”
I choose to believe that although life may be unfair, there is good in each person, and that living IN CHRIST, is the only way to navigate the storms we all will face.
