Anxious Thoughts

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
For the past few days I have been thinking about this scripture continuously. This weekend, my pastor also shared it in his message and reminded us that one of the marks of maturity in Christ is to recognize the need to ask God to search our hearts and point out to us anything that may need to be adjusted in our lives. As we get ready to enter the last two months of the year, I always look at the things that have transpired in and around my life for the year and make the changes necessary to continue knowing Him and growing in Him more. It seems that every year I have a variety of anxious thoughts. And in 2018, my list of anxious thoughts has been plenty!

How do you know when you have completed this process of letting the Lord investigate your life, search your heart and reveal things to you? Honestly, I’m not certain. What I do know is that I lay the things that offend Him down and walk away knowing that I no longer have to think about them. And I feel the weight of those things lifted off of me.
What anxious thoughts are you having? Do they keep you up at night? Do they bring worry to a high level? Would you like a clear picture of what you are about? Give your thoughts to the Lord and let Him exchange them for a path that leads to everlasting life…abundant life! Try it now, search me, O God!
