Use Your Platform

Mark 1:4, 7 John the Baptizer appeared in the wild, preaching a baptism of life-change that leads to forgiveness of sins. People thronged to him from Judea and Jerusalem and, as they confessed their sins, were baptized by him in the Jordan River into a changed life. John wore a camel-hair habit, tied at the waist with a leather belt. He ate locusts and wild field honey. As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.” 

I wonder what people thought when they came upon John the Baptist? We're they drawn to his thundering voice calling them to repent? Perhaps they were intrigued by his camel hair clothing and steady diet of locusts. Whatever the reason, they thronged around him. And he wasn't doing a book-signing at the mall...he was in the "wild"! 

It's what he did when they showed up that is so significant. He pointed them to Jesus so that they could have a life altering encounter and be changed from the inside out.

We all have a platform. You occupy a pulpit and preach a message everyday in your job and through your actions. You may even find one that speaks to the world and gathers the attention of millions of people. How are you using your platform to let people know about this life changing Savior? You may be the only Bible someone reads. Let's share His story with those in our circle of influence. Use your platform and point people to Jesus.
