Tired of Doing Good?
Galatians 6:9 So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.
I don't usually notice myself getting tired when things are good. I know that this scripture is speaking to the idea that we can't stop doing the right things for others. Think about it: do you get worn out doing good? When I am involved with some ministry outreach or event that is "doing good" there is so much adrenaline and joy that I receive from the work that it often doesn't feel like work at all. In fact I feel myself getting tired when I stop! One of the lessons I have learned is that when I find myself getting "burned out" it is usually because I am doing the wrong things or doing the right things for the wrong reasons.
The JOY of The Lord is strength for us to keep on "doing good" and not stop. It gets us moving at the start of the day and keeps us moving on our way. At just the right time you experience the benefit that you were made for if you don't quit and if your focus is on helping others.
There is a great payoff coming if we keep at it. That work is like seed that will produce a harvest in our home, our business and in our spiritual lives too!
Don't allow yourselves to get fatigued. Don't give up and don't quit. Start where you are and help those closest to you. A good crop is coming! This just might be harvest time for you!
