Pour Yourself Out
Ephesians 4:1 In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do. While I’m locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.
We all have a road that God has charted out for us. Part of the wonderful discovery of abundant life is finding that path and staying the course. Yet too often we grow lazy. We sit on our hands and do nothing to engage in Gods plan. And then when we decide to move, we wander aimlessly down a different way than the one that God chose for us. This leads us to the wrong folks, the wrong places and brings into our lives the wrong results.
When we humble ourselves before the Lord and discipline ourself to stay on his course, we can find inspiration to begin pouring ourselves out into the lives of others. What we make happen for others God will make happen for us!
Try pouring out some acts of love today and lifting up the spirits of a friend or co-worker. Be humble and quick at mending fences. Be steady and keep pouring and it won't be long until you become filled to overflowing too!
