Are You a Wiseguy?
This week, while listening to one of my favorite guys(Andy Stanley), I heard him say something thats too good not to share. He was talking about one question that can be a game changer as you and I make decisions in our lives. Curious yet? Here it is...
"In light of our past experiences, our current circumstances and our future hopes and dreams, is this the wise thing to do?" Boom! What I think this does is makes us stop reacting and begin responding. Impulse is replaced by intellect. Recklessness is replaced with thoughtfulness. Ephesians 5:15 tells us to "be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise, but as wise..."
What great counsel this is for each of us, especially at the start of a new year. Your past brought you here. Your future lies ahead. And today, you are deep into the present. Is what you are thinking about the "wise" thing to do? Is that relationship the "wise" one to begin...or perhaps end! Be careful how you live. It's time to be a wise guy!
