God is Able!
In the book of Matthew, Jesus began a picture story with these words.."the sower went out to sow". Not an unusually strange statement. It's what sowers do...they sow. Farmers understand this principle completely for they live it most of the time. They know that there will be no harvest unless you first plant a seed. They know that what you plant determines what you harvest.
I think about this every time our nation starts spinning out of control. It seems everyone looks at the stocks and when they are up we are happy and when they are down we are sad. Retirement income is less than half of what it used to be worth and the news just keeps getting worse. But we are not supposed to focus on the worlds financial system. As Christians, we operate in a different system. Jesus was talking about us...the sowers, and we are to sow no matter what is happening around us. All of us have held back out time, our talents or our finances for fear of lack at some point in our lives. But right now is the most incredible time of sowing that we have ever had. We know that when we sow sparingly we reap sparingly. If we sow generously, we will also reap generously.
I want to insure you as I am encouraging myself, that God knows where you are and what is going on in your life. Your job, your 401, your checking account does not hold the whole story. God is able to make ALL grace abound towards you. There is a scripture you can hold on to in the midst of all of this. It's 2 Corinthians 9:8. Focus on this instead of the news today...
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
There is a way to turn all of this around in YOUR life today. There is a way to get back all that has been lost. Sowing seed. You are a sower. Sow some seeds today!
