God With Us
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). Matt 1:22,23
Sometimes I need to stop what I am doing and remind myself that God is with me. I get so caught up in things and circumstances that its easy for me to forget just who is in charge. In the midst of so much confusion and chaos, so many things that happen that we do not understand, we need to cry out Immanuel this year like never before. The lights are beautiful, the sounds of the season delightful and those cookies delicious, but nothing compares to the understanding that no matter where we are or what we are going through...God is with us.
I have a little exercise I am doing and I encourage you to join me. Try saying, "God with us" every time you see Christmas lights, hear a carol, light a candle or receive a gift this season. It's a great way to remember what is the most important part of this season.
