The Comfort Zone

Mark 8:22-26 When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged him to touch the man and heal him. Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?” The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. Jesus sent him away, saying, “Don’t go back into the village on your way home.”

Jesus was the expert at "teachable" moments. That is what I believe this was. There is a blind man that people want to see healed. So they brought him to Jesus. What happens next is easy to miss. Jesus took him out of the village. Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone to experience real comfort. Once Jesus had the man where he wanted him, he spit on his fingers and touched his eyes. We often wet our fingers when we are about to turn a page in a book. A page in the training manual called "What is Spiritual Blindness" was about to be turned.

Jesus asked, "Can you see anything now?" The man said " I see people but they look like trees." In other words, I see but not clearly.

Here is where I believe that Jesus is teaching the disciples. The disciples had recently seen thousands of folks fed with a limited supply of food. After everyone ate, there were even leftovers. They saw...but they didn't see!

We need to pay close attention to the guidance of Christ and His spirit. We can't afford to see silhouettes of His purposes and plans. We need to see clearly. We need divine clarity...we need another touch!

Jesus touched the mans eyes again and everything was 20/20. He was completely restored!

Faithfulness is a journey. Walking with Christ is a progressive realization of His grace and mercy demonstrated in a His undeniable love. It should change you dramatically. You should want to be more, do more and see more.

Can you see anything now? Maybe you need to get out of the village so you can be touched today.
