Count Yourselves Blessed!
Matthew 5:11 “Not only that—count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable. You can be glad when that happens—give a cheer, even!—for though they don’t like it, I do! And all heaven applauds. And know that you are in good company. My prophets and witnesses have always gotten into this kind of trouble.
I would imagine that all of us have been on both sides of this conversation. We've allowed ourselves to get emotional and then while our mind is out of whack our mouth opened up and nothing good occurred. Or you have been doing some great things for the Kingdom of God and people started to say things about you which left you hurt and confused.
We can be so heartless at times. We can say things without thinking and make judgements about each other without ever really knowing the truth. I am surprised at times just how mean we can be to each other.
Kindness makes a person attractive. We need to love people as Jesus did and pray for each other. If you've been verbally attacked because of your faith, know that heaven is cheering you on and others are standing with you. You are not alone. And if you've ever been the attacker, ask the Lord to forgive you today and do all you can to make things right. Life is too short to be unhappy and upset. Let's stop judging and being hurtful. It's time to be helpful. Let's get the joy back! Count yourselves blessed!
