He Gives Me NEW Strength

The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in fields of green grass

and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised.

This morning my ministry capabilities will be challenged. I will need some of this NEW strength that comes from the Lord. The longer that I serve Him the more I realize just how little I really know and how much of this journey of a Christ follower is truly "by faith". My role as a pastor this morning requires that I bring some comfort and peace to a family that will be burying their baby boy.
As I prayed about the service and read through many scriptures, I was saddened by just how insignificant and short our words can be to a family enduring such grief. There are so many unknowns...why is this child no longer living here Lord? Why do these parents have to endure such pain? What could possibly be said that makes everything alright?
The fact is that everything is not alright. Life is messy and things happen that we don't fully understand...yet. So what do we do with this mess? We find the one thing that is constant...Jesus ...and we trust Him.  Our words may fall short but His word is always satisfying. When we are angry, we trust Him. When we are confused, we trust Him. When we are mourning the loss of a child, we trust Him.

I will read these comforting words out of His Word in Psalm 23 from the Good News Translation today and my prayer is that they will bring some comfort to the family and a reassurance that Jesus will be there when we need Him. This temporary loss will be difficult. He will give each of us new strength and guide us on the right paths...that is His promise.

Appreciate your prayers today:)
