Big Questions
1 Peter 1:3-6 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.
You and I will answer many questions each day. Big questions. Things like "what am I going to wear?" or "should I have pasta or chicken for dinner?" I know, those are not really very big at all! But some of them can get BIG. A couple of my personal ones are "am I raising my daughter the best that I can" and "am I taking advantage of all of the things the Lord has planted in me today?" But there is one BIG question that every person has to answer for themselves that is the most important question of all: "if you died today, do you know where you would spend eternity?"
I believe in heaven and hell, that my choices matter and have consequences and that God loved me so much that He sent Jesus to teach that to me, die for my sins and conquer hell and death so that I could choose to have eternal life. I believe that by making Jesus my Lord and Savior I am assured of all that heaven has to offer. And that makes me truly glad because I know there is wonderful joy ahead!
How about you? If today was your last day, how would you live it? What would you need to do to make certain that heaven is your eternal resting place? Choose Jesus!
