Finish Strong

2 Chronicles 1:7-10 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” Solomon replied to God, “You showed faithful love to David, my father, and now you have made me king in his place. O Lord God, please continue to keep your promise to David my father, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth! Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?”

Solomon could have asked for anything. A large temple filled with expensive artifacts. A new chariot or maybe thousands of acres of land to develop his own place. But Solomon wasn't interested in "things". He knew that He had a legacy to live out and He realized that he could not do it on his own. He needed some "special assistance". So he asked for a discerning heart and more wisdom to lead properly. He asked to finish strong.

This year our churches keyword has been "tenacious". Tenacity shows up through the fight but it really is only defines near the finish line. Only tenacious believers will see the best that God has for them. Only the tenacious prayer warriors will see the blessing that God has for them. Tenacious people know that it's not just about how well you run the race but also about how well you finish.

Solomon desired more wisdom and discernment. He wanted to finish strong. How about you?

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.
