You're Free?
Luke 13:10 He was teaching in one of the meeting places on the Sabbath. There was a woman present, so twisted and bent over with arthritis that she couldn’t even look up. She had been afflicted with this for eighteen years. When Jesus saw her, he called her over. “Woman, you’re free!” He laid hands on her and suddenly she was standing straight and tall, giving glory to God.
For 18 years this woman had been "burdened" by life and illness. So overwhelmed that her physical body was wearing out. And then suddenly, Jesus sees her and says, woman, you are free!" The scripture goes on to tell us that Jesus touched her and she stood straight up and was completely well. When I pondered the impact of this story I thought about the moment she had between His Word and His touch. For me that seems to be quite lengthy at times. I find myself in the presence of Jesus, I hear what He is saying to me and its encouraging and full of life but my symptoms are unchanged. I need His touch. The woman did too. When Jesus told her she was free, physically it had not yet manifested but spiritually it had already happened. Fortunately for her, it only took a moment to see the results.
God is in the healing business and we know that sooner or later the gap between His Word and His touch will be gone. And like this woman, we will stand straight up and give Him glory. May God touch you with His healing power today!
