Baptized and Energized

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.  And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Matt 3:16-17
Yesterday I was honored once again to baptize some folks at The Landing Community Church. I usually have a variety of young people that just get saved and want to do what the Bible encourages them to do. Baptism is a public profession of a personal decision to follow Christ. To take this step in the presence of church family, personal family and friends is quite an emotional experience. Jesus was baptized by John to validate the process and to validate His mission and lineage. He was making it known that He was here and ready to do the will of His Father.
But what deeply touched my heart yesterday was the two young ladies that were 71 and 75. One of them shared with me that she was raised in a way that she never understood about salvation that Jesus describes and she never knew what it really meant to be baptized. I was super excited to take her through this but it also breaks my heart to know that many people can live most of their lives without ever knowing the truth of the Gospel. It fuels my passion to do more and to do it better.
Today I’m thankful I get the opportunity every week to talk about Jesus, to share His story and introduce people to a better and more fulfilling life.
