Spirit Rising

Many years ago there was a popular song sung by U2 whose lyrics contained the line...
"I still haven't found what I'm looking for." Everyone is searching for something: love, work, freedom, power, money...the list goes on and on. We pursue until we acquire and then something inside us wants to keep looking.
I've been reading this book by Jim Cymbala entitled "Spirit Rising: Tapping into the Power of the Holy Spirit".  Why? Because since the first of this year, our church has "felt" different. Great things are happening and there have been many divine interruptions where a greater power than us takes over. You can sense it, you absolutely feel it and you can almost visibly see it as it sweeps over the sanctuary. When this power hits, things change: people are transformed and that is when the church service really becomes special.
So I've been looking into all that was said about this Holy Spirit, this third part of the mysterious Trinity, and why it would be sent to us as Jesus was taken away. When you read what Jesus had to say about this power, that we would be able to do some wonderfully amazing things, that absolute truth would be revealed to us, that clarity would be the norm...my question continues to be "why doesn't everyone want some of this power?' The guys closest to Jesus were told not to do a thing until they received it. They needed to be "empowered". The Holy Spirit was the tool. What I am learning as I enter my 11th year at The Landing is that I cannot do a thing without it's power. Oh I can do stuff, just not the great stuff that God has fashioned out for me.
So I am searching for more about his person...this power...this situation altering force that makes me all that I was designed to be. I may not be able to understand it all but there was something pretty special about the Holy Spirit...so special that we were given that spirit when we received Christ. But was that just the container? Is there more to it?  Am I using all that God has provided for me to carry out His mission on the earth? I am going deeper and looking for more of Him and His power. How about you?
I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
