I Trust You!
O LORD, how long will you forget me? Forever?
How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul,
with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O LORD my God!
Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!”
Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall.
But I trust in your unfailing love.
I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD
because he is good to me. (Psalm 13:1-6 NLT)
In just a few verses of this psalm we can see some spiritual progress. Perhaps you too know what it feels like to be forgotten or struggling? Ever been in the place where it seemed you were losing every battle?
David starts writing as if he is defeated and overwhelmed. It doesn't take long till he is praying for God to answer his prayer and restore the sparkle to his eye. And then, courage comes upon him and he proudly proclaims "I trust you" to God. Trust leads to rejoicing and then singing.
If you are starting out this week feeling down, hang in there, keep praying and trust God to bring back YOUR sparkle. Know that soon you too will be singing again!
