Who's Helping You?

One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Luke 5:17-19
Who is helping you stay close to Jesus? A pastor, or business partner? A family that lives by you? Your employer? Maybe a parent? There are so many distractions and disruptions in life today and it would seem impossible to stay the course and fight the fight of faith alone.
The man in our story was unable to move. He had tremendous needs in his life and there may have been much more than the physical that was obvious. He needed to be touched by Jesus. But there was no way to get to him because of all the others that needed help and were seeking Him too. There was something special about this moment for the power of the Lord was healing everyone. But this paralyzed man had some others who cared about his journey. He had friends who wanted to get him closer to Jesus whatever the cost. And that they did.
Are there any roofers in your circle of friends? Folks that would lift you up when you can't do it yourself? People that will make a way when all of yours have closed? Ones that will take you to the rooftop and lower you down a hole they made just to get you help?
We need to be right in front of Jesus if we want to live lives in right standing with Him. Find some friends that can lift you up, make a way, and get you closer to Christ when you can't make it yourself.
