Glimpses of Glory
“When I tried to figure it out, all I got was a splitting headache until I entered the sanctuary of God. Then I saw the whole picture.” (Psalm 73:16-17 Msg)
I love it when I have a dream, though I seem to do more dreaming and imagining when I am awake than when I sleep. The reason that I like to dream is because it allows my mind and spirit to rally around images that God is bringing into focus in my life. These pictures are often what I refer to as glimpses of glory and I believe that they are used to compel me to follow Christ more diligently and to propel me to a place in the future that is being prepared for me.
I encourage you today to take a few moments each day and eliminate the activity, silence the noise and close your eyes while you pray. Ask God for some snapshots of where He wants you to go, who He wants you to know and then journal your experience. Often God works his own WYSIWYG method(what you see is what you get) and we find ourselves in that picture if we just keep on walking. If you can't see anything with your eyes, find yourself some magazines and begin to cut out pictures of places you would like to go, a house you would like to live in or a favorite car. Or how about where you would like to vacation, a ministry you would like to serve in our a project that you've always wanted to do. Make your own DREAM collage of images that are interesting to you and that you could see yourself in. Then frame that collage and put the word DREAM right over it. Hang it someplace that you walk by or look at every day. Each time you SEE these pictures you will be reminded about the things that have an impact on you and things you would like to do.
There is a dream in you that God is ready to unleash to benefit others and to bless you. That splitting headache will go when you find your way into the place of His presence. Get the picture?
