Courageous
Yesterday at The Landing I revealed our KeyWord for the year 2011. This year that word is COURAGEOUS. Our focus this month is on the man Joshua and how he took the reigns when his mentor and teacher , Moses, passed away. Joshua was handed the task of finishing the journey to the Promised Land. But when you read our golden text for this year you can see that he was given so much more.
Joshua 1:7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
This week I would like to comment on many wonderful points in these two verses that I believe can help us get through the obstacles and into the place that God desires us to be. Maybe you are at a crossroads at work and looking for an answer about your career. Maybe your family is in turmoil and you need some stability. Or perhaps your faith has been challenged so often that you feel weak, tired and about ready to throw in the towel where God is concerned. Don't quit...just hang on!
Joshua got a WORD from God...be COURAGEOUS! Courageous is defined as the quality of spirit that enables you to face danger of pain without showing fear. Never let them see you sweat!
There will be challenges in 2011. People are going to let you down. Though you do good, bad things will probably happen. Joshua got his word. You will too if you simply ask for it!
Don't dis- courage, TAKE courage! Be strong and very COURAGEOUS!
