Be You!

I was in my favorite coffee chop the other day to get my usual tall, extra bold coffee to jump start my day. As I waited for the barista to say my name(always makes me feel good to begin my day), I found myself chuckling at the specific detail many use in ordering their morning brew. "I'll take a tall skinny non-fat vanilla soy latte". I would like a caramel frapp, no whip, with an extra shot of caramel". After they shouted out the names of these drinks, they came to my little regular coffee and it seemed so bland. I wanted to have a special tag...no whip, skinny, soy latte...oh well...I guess I am just a regular cup of joe! I have to admit some of the names were so long I could not remember what they said by the time they finished saying it!
The Bible tells us that each of us was made in the image of God. You were hand-crafted and the Spirit of the Lord was poured into you from the very start. You are incredibly special just the way you are! Oftentimes, we have a tendency to look at ourselves in comparison to others. We may even gauge our success on how we measure up. We may not think we have the right clothes, the right haircut, the right car...the list goes on and on.  But we must never forget that there is a plan for us that counts on us being the best we can be and using the gifts that we have.
It's true that being a tall, extra bold person in a world of skinny cinnamon dolce latte with no whip can be a struggle. Fact is, I don't need a fancy label, or a cute name to be me. Skinny, heavy, soy, no soy, no hable espanol...whatever...I am the way I was created to be! I've been designed to deliver!
I don't even need an extra shot...God has given me everything I need for life and godliness!(2 Peter)
So stand at that counter and remember that you are a chosen generation...tailor made, unique and extraordinary. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! Be YOU!
God made you special...and significant. I guess being a regular cup of joe ain't so bad after all! Cheers!
