Press On

Philippians 3:14 says,
"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
How many times has life taken an unexpected turn on you? Have you ever been ambushed by horrific news or a fast spreading disease? What should we do when we face those kinds of situations? Keep pressing. Keep moving. There is a goal...the goal for the believer is heaven and an eternity with Christ.
The worst thing we can do when life changes suddenly is to stop. We cannot afford to become inactive or idle. When we stop we lose the momentum that comes in the natural ebb and flow of life. Inactivity leads to self-pity and depression. And that is when our mind starts to play tricks on us. Keep moving!
Scripture tells us to "cast down imaginations" and take our thoughts captive. Keep your eyes on the prize and the mind on he desired result. Every one of us will face something that was unexpected...something that may knock the wind right out of us. If that happens, find a partner to pray with and just keep pressing on...press on toward the goal...towards Christ. Keep your feet and moving forward and follow the upward call.
The upward call will keep the downward spiral from taking over.
