"IF"

Proverbs 2
1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
3 and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
There are many conditional things in the word of God. By conditional I mean that there are promises based on our obedience and consequences when we are disobedient to what God is saying. You can see this is in todays Proverb. Let's break it down:
IF you accept and store
accept what the Word of God says-it's His Word
pile it up within you: read, retain, read, retain
IF you listen and apply it
turn your ear in the direction of God's wisdom: holy reverence for Him is where you start(Proverbs 1:7)
applying what we learn with ALL of our heart moves us forward in His direction
IF you call out and cry aloud
these show progressive levels of attaining this knowledge: calling, then crying aloud show a growth in intensity
IF we look and search
again the intensity increases from looking to searching(searching is a deeper level in finding insight and understanding)
IF all of this is in place...
THEN
YOU will understand what it means to have a respect and reverance for God and you will find His purpose for YOUR life!
When our emotions , our body and our spirit begins to break down, we can start putting things back together by recognizing that God should be at the center of our life and circumstances. When He is in the right place, we are in the right place.
IF we do what He asks THEN we live how He designed us to live.
Accept, store, listen, apply,call out, cry aloud, look and search...IF all of this comes together,
THEN we find HIm right where He needs to be!
