The Simple Life

Each day as I begin the day and read a psalm, proverb or another scripture I am amazed that Jesus tried to simplify the walk of a follower. Having grown up hearing various faith beliefs and denominational doctrines, I found many times that I was confused by all of the"extras" that people added to His Word. I can read things like...
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”- Matthew 7:12
Treat people like you wish to be treated. I can remember that. It's so simple! And then when all of those religious leaders of the day tried to bring confusion to His Word, He made it simple again...
Mark 12:28 "One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[f] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[g]There is no commandment greater than these."

You know what...I can do that too! Now I know there are many other scriptures that deal with a variety of talents, spiritual gifts and commands. But Jesus said this is where the rubber meets the road.
