New Growth!
Last week I caught a story on television about Dr Anthony Itala. He works at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Growth in North Carolina doing what they call REGENERATIVE research. His job is unique: he makes body parts. The reason he is does this is a result of the fact that many people die every day waiting for organ transplants. So if he can make a liver, a kidney or even a heart, many lives could be saved. What they are attempting do is manipulate cells to cause regrowth.
As I watched this story I was so amazed at the capacity of the human mind and the passion of the human heart. They say that we actually only use 10% of our brains capacity. That could be more evident in some than others! These scientist have realized that the body grows in a fetus state. If they can convince the body to think it is in the early fetus stage then new growth is possible. Remember Jesus said that "you must be born again." Interesting. When asked how he gets these complex cells to grow, the answer that was given was astonishing:
"If you put a cell in the right environment, it will do what it is supposed to do. It is programmed to work"
All I could say was praise the Lord because I think the way we are created resonates with that: if you and I are put in the right environment, we will grow! We are programmed that way. The challenge is trying to keep ourselves in an environment conducive to growing and maturing in the Lord. So "hang-time" is important. The people you hang out with and the places that you go. Are you giving yourself an opportunity for new growth today? Start this first day of winter in the right environment. let the old go and embrace all things new!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (New International Version)
17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
