Sticks and stones...

The bible calls the tongue a world of iniquity, a fire starter, unruly evil, full of deadly poison. The bible says that this little guy has the power to defile the entire body. It has the ability to steer the course and direction of our lives like a rudder on a ship. It’s hard to imagine that something which may seem so significant can be so powerful and meaningful but it is. Our words will shape our lives. Our words can make our day. Someone has said that great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, and small minds discuss people.
We really need to watch our words, don’t we? How would you feel knowing that your words took all the hope out of a person that heard them? What would it do to you to know that your words caused someone to give up and stop fighting? Unfortunately, most of us probably do not think about that enough. Do you remember the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me?” I don’t know who came up with that but it’s just not true because words can break our hearts. Broken bones can heal with time, but a broken spirit caused by words of death, is not quickly repaired.
Language is the expression of thought. Every time you speak, your mind is on parade. That’s why we should never pass up a chance to keep our mouth shut. PRO 17:28 says that even a fool ,when he holds his peace, is counted wise.
Today you will have an allotted amount of words to use. Use them to bring life and hope to someone else!
