God has not...
For the last several days I have been meditating on a verse that I have heard for years. It comes from 2 Timothy 1:7 and says,"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind." It has been bouncing around in my head because I am certain that there are many things I do not engage in because of fear. Another translation uses the word "timidity". As a believer filled with faith and the love of God, I am supposed to be bold, declaring His goodness and driving out things that do not belong!
Unfortunately, I still wrestle with timidity. Maybe you do too. You want to jump in with boldness but you start to worry about what a person might say or how the situation may change. When all we should be thinking about is obeying the voice of the Lord.
God has not given us fear. That comes from the dark side and is not productive. It paralyzes. It prohibits. It procrastinates. By its very definition fear is actually being afraid of "impending" danger. That means we get trapped by things that have not yet occurred!
God has not given us a spirit of fear. What He has given is power to move through all obstacles and overcome every situation. What He has given is love that covers sin. Perfect love even casts out fear! And God has given us a sound mind, a disciplined mind. A mind that thinks through situations clearly and has great clarity.
Today, lets all start talking about what God HAS given rather than get trapped by what He has not given to us. This is our day to boldly declare His name and speak to our mountains. This is your day to shine and be a blessing to others! So I guess it's really up to you...what spirit will control you?
