The Big Top

Every kid loves the circus...the sounds, the sights, the fried food and oh yes, don't forget the Shriners in their little cars!
Today I was thinking about life and how it can feel like a circus at times. Often we get caught up watching everything happening around us and what we don't realize is that we are being pulled into the event all the time. You actually become a part of all that is happening! As I thought about all the elements of a "circus" environment, what stands out to me is the huge tent that holds the attractions. They call it The Big Top.
Consider your life this big tent. It covers everything that you do, the people that you know and the places you will go. Somedays you feel like the ring leader while others you feel like the caged tiger or the person balancing on the tight rope.
Now read this from Isaiah 54:2...
"Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
We know that God has a plan for each of us. That plan is to prosper us and help us develop into mature believers that are thoroughly equipped for every good work and lacking no good thing.(did that make you shout?) Now imagine someone telling you to make the footprint of your tent BIGGER...enlarge your thinking...dream BIG. Growing is a good thing and the trouble for most of us is that to grow you have to go through changes. When you enlarge the place of a tent, you have to pull up the stakes. As you do so, the tent will start to appear like it is collapsing...in fact for a portion of time,it may look like it has fallen. But what you will find is that there is a huge pole in the very center that supports everything. And there are other poles throughout the tent that help too while you reset the stakes and enlarge the space.
That center pole...the key support system for you and I MUST be Jesus Christ. Anything else cannot support the weight of the life that we are living. The other poles represent our friends, family and co-workers. God gave us people to help as we navigate the journey.
So if you have some flaps in your life that look like they are coming down because you are trying to grow a business, a relationship or yourself, have no fear. God will hold you up while you make your adjustments and He is helping you to have a bigger footprint and make a greater impact. Let those closest to you help too! Things are going to juts keep getting better and better!
So ladies and gentleman....step right up....to the greatest show on earth...your life!
