Fight the Good Fight

1 Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, 19 having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, 20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

Paul encouraged Timothy to always hold dearly the memory of how he entered the ministry and to use those memories to fuel his passion to fight the good fight of faith. When was the last time you fought for something that was important to you? Or for someone? Too often we may give in to things that should not be given power over us. Your family is worth fighting for. Your friends are worth fighting for. And your faith...yes, that is a good fight!

Many people will gather in their places of worship this evening for a candlelight communion service. We will have one at The Landing as well. We will also receive communion. We will sing worship songs, light our candles signifying that we are the light of the world and we will remember what Jesus did for us as we take the bread and drink the cup. This intimate time of fellowship is what empowers us and gives us the dedication necessary to stand up and fight for what matters to us. Inside of you today is a little warrior. I fighter that will not let the world run over them. A contender that will engage their faith and use it to combat every evil force raised against them. The spirit of God in you is greater than anything that could possibly come against you. So go ahead, fight the good fight. Be the light of the world. And always remember that whenever you spell Christmas....Christ always comes first!
