Tell the Truth
"Raise your right hand and repeat after me...I solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...and then those last four words that make this possible...SO HELP ME GOD!
In today's culture truth seems to be what you make it. If you don't like someones interpretation of the truth, then you adjust it to be able to apply it to your situation. Is there such a thing as absolute truth? As a Christian I must hold fast to the fact that Jesus said He was the way, the TRUTH and the life. So He is my absolute. His Word, the Bible is my filter. The standards of my life are held against that to determine what is fair, what is right and what is wrong. The great part about that is that my truth won't change. The truth I come to know will set me free. Jesus said that he was the same yesterday, today and forever. He is consistent. The bar has been set and will not be raised above what I am able to live in obedience to.
Too often we think that we can not tell the truth and get away with it. If you believe that then I have some bad news. The truth will always come out. The truth always rises to the surface. It was Mark Twain that exhorted us to always tell the truth because then you don't need to remember what you said! Truth or Consequences? Which will you choose?
I will do my best to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth...SO HELP ME GOD!
