Can You Make a Decision?

"How long will you waver between two opinions?" It's a question the prophet Elijah asked to 450 prophets of Baal on Mt. Carmel right before He asked God to show up strong on his behalf. He had already made his decision and now he He wanted to know when they would make a decision to get off of the fence and be fully devoted, one way or another.

There is nothing more frustrating than being in a room filled with indecisive people. Perhaps our culture has beaten down folks so long for making the wrong choices that we are just too afraid to commit to a yes or a no. We know that there are consequences for our choices and we really don't want to face them if we are wrong.

In the Book of James we are reminded that double-mindedness is crippling. It says that a double-minded man(one who cannot make a committed decision) is unstable in ALL his ways. I've heard that before. But when I read the verse after that it goes on to say that a double-minded man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord!

Remember this...a decision produces energy. It moves you forward. A good decision moves you forward in the right direction and a wrong decision moves you forward in the wrong direction. But you are still moving. Don't allow yourself to become complacent and fearful to commit because you do not wish to face the music of the consequences. Faith is that ability to step out when nothing is there and find something to stand on. When you make a committed decision you give God something to work with. He cannot direct your path if you refuse to take a step!

Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean upon His understanding. In All your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Make a decision today to make something positive happen this weekend in the life of another person.
