You're going to like the way you look!
We don't like to talk about it...for a variety of reasons. You did not wake up today and say to yourself that you were looking forward to some suffering! I've been teaching people at The Landing Community Church about suffering and what I have experienced. You can't teach what you don't know and you can't lead where you won't go. I've visited sufferings palace and I have stayed there many a day and night. I think we do not talk about suffering because we really don't understand it. We tend to ignore many things that we cannot explain. Yet I have realized some characteristics about suffering:
1-suffering affects everyone-you will go through seasons of suffering. Suffering is no respecter of persons.
2-often when we are suffering we do not have all the facts-its very hard to try and discern a season of suffering because we usually do not have all the information about it while it is happening. Perhaps that is the great frustration, we can't figure it out and so we give it power to control us for that period of time.
3-suffering is not a pleasant experience- no one likes it and no one wishes it on anyone they care about.
You may be starting this week off discouraged and depressed by what is happening around you. Realize that you are not alone today. Many other people are going through a season like this too. Our goal is to keep our eyes on what brings life to us and not death. God did not doing this to you. He may be using it to strengthen you and develop you into the person that He designed you to be. And isn't that what you really want? Take a moment today to take a look at how much you are developing in the midst of this struggle. Thank Him for those subtle changes. You are probably learning to think for yourself, stand on your own two feet and create a "new normal" for your life. Whether you recognize it or not, you are being changed and you are going to like the way you look! I guarantee it!( taken from Mens Wearhouse commercial!)
