Get ready to flourish!
Hopefully after our thoughts about seasons of drought and how to defeat them you realize that you have a voice in how those dry times affect you and shape the course of your life. When we prepare in advance we find that there is a reserve tank we can draw from when times get tough.
I thought about how important this is yesterday as I faced some challenges. I had been reading God’s Word consistently and spending time praying for people that are connected to me: church members, friends, and family. I was making coffee in the morning and looking forward to my day. I was feeling somewhat joyful! Suddenly a phone call tried too ruin my plans, change my schedule and keep me from doing what I had planned to do. I was so “prayed up” that I did not feel the need to do anything but finish making my coffee and get my first cup of joe for the day ready. By the time that my coffee finished brewing and I had my first few sips of heavens nectar, I had received two more phone calls that reversed all of the trauma of the first! The problem appeared as if it had worked itself out! But I know that there was more to it than that.
It was at that moment I realized that my root system was strong. There were no visible weeds and the pruning process was acknowledged and even welcomed! Now it was harvest time. I had some things I had to do and these distractions to the schedule could have truly messed up everything. I realized that maybe I was maturing a bit…perhaps I am learning how to respond rather than react? I waited and it all worked out! That’s MY God!
Droughts show up…but God can and will send the rain so that our life can be fruitful…as it was intended to be. Enjoy your weekend and get ready…YOU are about to flourish!
Psalm 92:12-14 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the LORD,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green.
