What are you working for?

People all over the world are getting up today to go to work for a variety of reasons. Some are working for the money to go to college and increase their knowledge. Some are clocking in so that they can buy a bigger house or a nicer car.

Colossians 3:23 tells us that "whatever we do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward." Did you get that? Whatever you are doing, you should give all your heart to it and do it for the Lord...it is the Lord you are serving. And there is a promise that you have an inheritance coming when you work with the right motive and attitude.

I had a season where I worked for people that never said thank you. No matter how good a job I did it seemed to go unnoticed. When I read the verse above, I realized that somebody important was watching me and they saw my heart. They saw what I was putting into my job. I realized that I was working for the Lord. Once I understood that it no longer mattered what accolades I received from man. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to be appreciated and acknowledged. And I can assure you today, when man overlooks you, God has you on His mind! So the question really should not be what are you working for? Perhaps I should ask you WHO are you working for?
